what settings did you use to export this?

@NickandCharlieShorts The camera needs to have a firewire connection to the computer, and needs to be in record mode. No other settings necessary.

What kind of firewire cable do I need to connect my Sony Handycam to my Laptop pc that only has a 1394 port and not an actual fire wire port???

@xocaitlin88ox You’re in luck. A 1394 port is the same as a firewire port. You probably need a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable

Is it also possible for HDD camcorders?

Reply

guerillabill July 22, 2010 at 12:44 pm

@JulianProductionz This is only possible with camcorders that have firewire out port.

@knightdrummer94 You need a 4 pin to 4 pin firewire cable for your laptop. Find them on eBay for $3.00

Hi guerillabill…Can I use my Flip camera to show things live in my home ec lab on TV or via laptop & projector?

Reply

guerillabill August 5, 2010 at 5:14 pm

@kntrounds No, you can only connect live to Vegas with firewire equipped cameras.
But you could use your flip with web cam software to show live video.

Hi There. I’m working with a Canon Vixia. I connect the cabel from the camera to my USB but I cannot for the life of me get it to capture the way you’re showing. I’ve tried both Windows Movie Maker and my actual software (Magix Edit Pro 15) and neither pick it up. Any ideas on why? Yous is the only video that even comes CLOSE to getting me on the right track.

@TravisTricky To record live video to your computer, you must use the firewire port on the camera, not the USB port.

@guerillabill I have problems with connecting my camcorder, atm im connecting by using usb, but i also have a DV stick. Should i buy a DV kabel, do you think it will help?
It seems as i have installed drivers correct. Im trying to connect by Windows movie makers and so far, my computer can’t find the camera. Even though it is installed under my hardware devices.
Is it a software problem?

@realmuddiboy With a camcorder that records to tape, you need a firewire connection to record live video direct to computer. If the camera records to SD card, you won’t be able to record live video to the computer, as the video is stored as a file, and not streamed to the USB cable.

@rokey12 No, this only works when recording from a camcorder with firewire. To record video games, use Fraps

@rokey12 Fraps is software used to record computer game videos. Search google for ‘Fraps’ and you’ll find it.

well dont realy need fraps or anything xD you can also just do like he said and then aim the camera on ure screen might get bad footage but hey atleast u got it recorded xD [it's adviced to that in a dark room so it wont get over exposuerd to the light so u just recorded for nothing] darker room makes everything more balanced when recording somthing from a screen ;P
